Inclusive vs. exclusive counting
There's a subtle difference between the number of days between two dates and the number of days from and including the first through the last. Renting equipment Monday to Friday is 4 nights but 5 days. This tool reports the gap; add one if you need to count both endpoints, as hotels and rental periods often do.
Months and years are approximate
Because months range from 28 to 31 days, the months and years figures are averaged conversions of the exact day count — useful for a quick sense of duration. When a precise legal or financial term matters (like a 90-day notice period), rely on the exact day count, which is always unambiguous.
